When developing a new engine range for the NSeries, Isuzu placed special emphasis on the environment. The mission was not only to achieve cleaner emissions and comply with standards such as Euro 3, but also to do this without compromising fuel economy and reliability. This was achieved by introducing electronic fuel injection on the 3.5 and 5 tonne modds, improving torque, power and fuel efficiency. Mechanical fuel injection was retained on the 6.2 and 7.5 models negating the need for sophisticated diagnostic servicing equipment, allowing easier servicing, maintenance and ultimately
keeping your vehicle where it should be - on the road.

The proven, reliable and durable 4.8 and 3.0 Iitre direct injection turbocharged and interercooled diesel units are built in the way that only Isuzu knows how and have made the name legindary in diesel engine production. The layout and structure have been improved, reducing noise whilst maintaining high performance. The viscous costing fan further aids noise reduction and allows more power to be directed to the engine. The addition of extra insulators and protectors ensures smooth and efficlent operation, making the ~Series powerful but quiet performers.

The exhaust brake improves efficiency even further. Isuzu is the only manufacturer to offer exhaust brakes as standard in these weight categories and not only that, they're automatic too. On releasing the throttle, the fuel to the engine is automatically cut, reducing fuel wastage whilst slowing down. The exhaust braking system also prolongs brake life, reducing maintenance costs and increasing reliability.
